It does come with its own set of challenges, but we’re conscious about addressing them, and in our experience, the benefits outweigh the risks. By a wide margin.

Almost nothing is ASAP. We value each other’s time so we prefer thoughtful, written and asynchronous communication. That also means we tend to have as few meetings as possible, with a clear agenda and targeted audience, which is usually the case since we prefer small, efficient, and autonomous teams to layered hierarchies and micromanagement. We strive to provide everyone enough context, support and focused, uninterrupted time to do meaningful, fulfilling work. And then get out of the way.

Startups are often associated with hectic workdays, hustle culture and burnout. On that note, “dynamic working environment” is probably the most overloaded and worn out euphemism in the industry. But it doesn’t have to be like that. Most of us have been there, and know how easy it is to slip in that direction, so we put time, thought and effort into finding ways to prevent it from happening.

IN THE EYE OF THE HURRICANE

Skies are often clear above the eye and winds are relatively light. It is actually the calmest section of any hurricane.

We aim to enable people to organize their work around their lives and families, and not the other way around. So we don’t claim to “be a family”, but rather supporters of our employees’ families. To put it in plain terms, or “our money where our mouth is” if you’d like, our health insurance policy covers not only our employees, but also their children, and we’re working on including the spouses as well. We think it beats ping pong tables.
